Here are 5 helpful activities and worksheets that I found useful on Teachers Pay Teachers. We are currently working on this unit in my geometry class.
1) First up is a set of task cards to help students practice the Pythagorean Theorem. In this type of activity, students may have to walk around the room or pass the cards with questions on them. A great activity to get them out of their seats! Also, their is a graphic organizer included so students can get their thoughts about the Pythagorean Theorem organized. Pythagorean Theorem Task Cards
2) Next we have a set of notes that teach students about the Pythagorean Theorem. Then, they can play a BINGO game to help them review what they have learned. Who doesn't like BINGO? Pythagorean BINGO game
3) I really like this idea - using the Pythagorean Theorem to find distances on a map. I am definitely trying this next year! Pythagorean Theorem Real World Map Example
4) Review the Pythagorean Theorem using the Who Wants to be a Millionaire Format - what could be better? Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Pythagorean Theorem Game
5) Finally, I'd like to show you my own Pythagorean Theorem Packet. Pythagorean Theorem Packet This packet contains the following:
• 1 page of 10 problems of basic Pythagorean theorem problems
• 1 page of 8 problems of using the Pythagorean Theorem with other geometric shapes. (For example, if you have an isosceles triangle, how long is the altitude of the triangle.)
• 2 pages of 12 problems each (Form A and Form B) that can be solved quickly if you know the Pythagorean triples – 3, 4, 5; 5, 12, 13; 7, 24, 25; 8, 15, 17
• 1 puzzle that has 14 problems which students must practice the Pythagorean Theorem to solve.
• 2 pages of answers to all of the problems in this packet.
